Our organization, the Oshawa Italian Recreation Club, has been in operation for over 40 years and with the support, hard work and foresight of a volunteer based membership, we have grown from a social group that met for recreational purposes to becoming an active and vibrant corporate citizen in the City of Oshawa.
Our mandate has grown to encompass not only the promotion of the Italian culture to the community but to effect positive change through our extensive fundraising efforts. Over the years, thousands of dollars have been raised to help the community hospital and community sports teams. In April, 2009 we rushed to the aid of the earthquake victims in Italy and created the Earthquake Relief Fund for which we were able to raise $52,000 in aid and most recently, we have pledged $90,000 over the next three years for scholarships at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
The Oshawa Italian Recreation Club is a non-profit organization whose primary purpose is the preservation, enhancement and propagation of the Italian heritage.
Our objective is to provide the public with an opportunity to experience and appreciate the Italian Cultural Heritage through artistic endeavours such as literature, dance, music, theatre, movies, art exhibition, conferences, workshops and social and recreational events.
Open to anyone who is interested in the preservation and promotion of the Italian heritage.
